 Taftazan old village is located 54 k.m. northwest to Shirvan . The population of this village is 381 composed of 66 families who speak in Turkish language. This village has formerly been a part of old Nessa Province with special importance. Taftazan village is surrounded by high mountains of which the most important ones are Konjkhor and Salsalan mountains. A small river crosses the village. There is close to the village a high mountain on top of it there has been an old castle known as Yaman Castle with strong fortifications and remains of it are visible over there. This village is the birthplace of famous Islamic Gnostic Molla Saadeddin Taftazani the author of several books. There is in the village an old pane tree with 1,000 years of age and is highly respected by the people.
