Imam Khomeini (Soltani) Mosque, Tehran

This mosque is located at the end of Naser Khosrow avenue near the Tehran Bazaar. the Shah or Sultani Mosque dates back to the reign of Fathali Shah Qajar and during the reign of Naseredin Shah the two current minarets were added to the structure. This mosque proves to be a great piece of architecture and beauty due its vast courtyard, beautiful Shabestans (or nocturnal areas), the giant tile worked dome and interesting arches and entrances.

Other old graveyards of the province are: Hazrat Abdol Azeem Graveyard located in south-east of exterior courtyard of the same mausoleum, the Russian, Armenians, French and Italian Graveyards located in Vosooq Avenue, Hindus, Jews, Christians belonging to the British Embassy, and those of Assyrians.

 This graveyard is located in Darband Avenue in a garden with an area covering 3,000 sq. m. It is the resting abode of many artists and poets such as "Rahi Mo'ayeri", "Iraj Mirza" and "Furooq Farokhzad".

This old graveyard covers an area of 9.5 hectares. Its the resting abode of known personalities such as Mirzadeh Eshqi (a great revolutionary poet), Dehkhoda (a literary scholar and writer of the dictionary by the same name). Dr. Hossein Fatemi (Foreign Minister during the period of the national movement in order to nationalize the oil industry) and the tomb of Jahan Pahlavan Takhti.

This Graveyard with an area of 2,000 sq m. is located in Dowlat Avenue. The date of the last burial taken place here was about 50 years ago which was a commemoration of World War II.
